2009 Summer Vacation

We are all at the beach for 3 weeks. As usual this vacation has invovled a lot of eating.
Lucie smiles for the camera.
Plays peek-a-boo behind the shutter.
She knows she's cute and she isn't afraid to use it to get out of trouble.
Looking for daddy while he's out sailing in the bay.
A bottle at snack time.
Walking on the beach with Aunt Morgane.

Boating with Paka

Lucie and her grandfather tested the canoe together.
It looks like they're crossing the bay.
But as you can see from this photo the water is barely a foot deep.
Once it was decided that Lucie loves the kayak, her grandfather got her a lifejacket. Lucie couldn't be happier!

Visitors from everywhere

As of today, and since only April 2009, we have received visitors from 13 countries. I am glad to say that Grégoire only accounts for one of those, so we're not cheating. Our most ardent and fervent visitors are Lucie's American grandparents, who have visited us no fewer than 510 times in 3.5 months...

thanks everyone.

Dancing

No music? Not a problem for our Lucie.

What happens when you leave a toddler alone?

You find them doing stuff like this...
Yes, she's sitting in her baby's stroller. Yes, some how she's gotten the stroller onto the chair. Yes, Greg did help her down from there after he found her and we took these photos.
How and why she got up there we don't know. We'd left her alone in her room for 10 minutes and this is how we found her.

Sunday at the Park

We go to our neighborhood park most sunny weekends. This last Sunday, Lucie brought her doll and stroller along.

The doll even got a turn on the swing.Lucie had a great time dancing (to no music) and chasing a 3 year old boy who had a ball around the gazebo.
The sandbox is still very popular with Lucie too.

Luciefer

Once in a while, our daughter turns from a loving, playing, happy child into a ball of anger. I guess that's what they call the terrible two's, and Lucie's train is ahead of schedule.

Please note that this scene took place after Michele tried to get Lucie to model her new dress, which Michele made with her very own loving, motherly hands (and her new sewing machine). I say kudos on the dress...

A Little More Beach-time

While we Lucie's parents had to return to Paris and go back to work, Lucie stayed at the beach with her grandparents for five more days.

When returning by train to Paris, there's first class, second class and then the best class--your grandfather's shoulders, of course.

He serves a mean bottle of milk too.

More Bretagne

Gregoire's childhood friend Bertrand came to visit for the first couple days of the long weekend.
He took some pictures of all of us on the beach.
On the first day, the weather wasn't all that, and Lucie got to wear her rubber boots. She danced on the sand.
Whenever I'm about to do something silly with Lucie (I count "un" "deux" "trois"). So now, when I start counting, she gets an impish smile because she knows something silly's about to happen. Of course, this might reduce her chance of ever learning how to count, but we'll worry about that then. She also, when she's holding our hands , will sometimes yell "DEUX!", and then this usually happens:
Another 'foto! cheese!' request.
Would you like to eat some peat?
Lucie likes to row her own boat.
After a long ride, she deserves a home cooked meal by the sea...
Lucie likes to chill with her grand-pere
She also likes to wear the bike lock around her neck. It's pink, so why not? She loves to ride on the back of the bike, which she calls "welo" (she has trouble with v's). She goes around saying "welo! Lulu! welo! Lulu!" (unfortunately, her nanny calls her Lulu, and she's taken to the nickname).
