We signed the ‘promise de vente’ over two weeks ago. Following the signing, we had 7 days to pullout of the sale. During those 7-day, we went to see the apartment again and took a few pictures. We had a second estimate done while we were there too. The second estimate came back lower than we expected and so happily everything is moving forward. We’ve met with the bank and now it’s just a matter of filling out some more paperwork and waiting for everything to be processed. Our latest date for closing is October 30, but we’re hoping to have everything settled sooner. Here are the photos; bedroom, we’re thinking about putting either a sliding door or French doors between the living room and bedroom; hallway, can you tell the wallpaper is faux green wood paneling?; kitchen; and bathroom. Here is also a photo of the elevator door, but I think it’s difficult to really see much in the picture.
I found a few more photos online of our maybe-new-apartement. The front of the building, the floor plan, the living room with the front bedroom, and the lovely green second bedroom.
We have been incredibly delinquent about posting on our blog lately, but we have a really good reason. We’re been busy hunting for an apartment to buy. We made an offer on an apartment on Saturday and the seller has accepted out offer. The apartment is on the northern side of Montmartre, in the 18th. The building was built in 1914 and the last person who lived in the apartment was the daughter-in-law of the woman who built the building. The daughter-in-law lived in apartment for 84 years! We will have a lot of renovations to do before we can move-in. Here are photos of our maybe-new-apartment. View from the front, bedroom, living room, kitchen, second bedroom, and bathroom.
Our lovely friend, Karen was back in Paris for business last week. We convinced her she had to stay through the weekend and come to Brittany with us. We are such cruel friends! Greg killed a crab for her for lunch. In the first photo Karen is showing her bike injury. It was much worse than it appears to be in the photo, but always a trooper, she got right back on the bike after the accident.
We spent our last two nights in NYC at our crazy-awesome friends, Alana and Xander’s apartment. They live in our old building in Morningside Heights. I guess we were really overwhelmed by memories because we forgot to take a photo of Alana and Xander (we also forgot their house keys in Lititz, but they’re such nice people, they gave us another set without a word). Instead we took photos of their two cuddle cats who decided out suitcase was the best place in the entire apartment to sit as soon as we arrived.
Our friends Joyce, Don, and Michael joined us for dim sum one afternoon at Greg’s favorite restaurant in Chinatown. The place is really huge and the food is great.
We returned to NYC for our last weekend in the U.S. We spent two days in Brooklyn with our super-cool friends Nate and Paul. We drove past a pile of burning garbage on our way to their loft in Brooklyn and Greg couldn’t help taking a photo. Here is a photo from their living room window too.
