Vacation in Greece

Greg and I spent ten restful days in the Greek Islands.

We started with five days on Santorini. Our Hotel was built into the side of the cliff and had a really beautiful view. We watched the sunset every night and barely left the terrace in front of our hotel room.

Spring Guests

Lots of wonderful friends visited us this spring.

Marne was in town first for a friend’s bachelorette party. She escaped for an afternoon and we had a quick lunch and a walk around Montmartre.
Alana and Xander came next on the way back from their holiday in Scotland. Unfortunately, it was cold and rainy most of the time they were in Paris. We spent one afternoon walking through the covered passages in the 8th.

Vero and Gonzalo came to see the French Open and we dragged them away from tennis a few times for walks around our neighborhood.

More Liberia - Posters

In a country where communications are difficult, and even the most basic human rights are regularly flouted, the government communicates through cartoonish posters. I took a few pictures, and also included a picture of a refugee camp that I happened to drive by outside of Monrovia.
The process is on, and Stop Mob Violence
In case you didn't get it last time...
Malaria kills lots of people, and really affects the economy by disabling otherwise functional and productive adults.
Internally displaced persons (aka: refugees) camp.
Repeat after me: rape is a crime (sorry it's blurry).
Again, for those that didn't get it the first time.
And as a last reminder, for the short school bus kids...

Liberia March 07

All you get for not posting for 3 months is a bunch of grief and whining... so here are some pictures from Liberia. I hope you'll enjoy them.

There is no running water at the Liberia Water and Sewerage Corporation (LWSC), and so we flush with a bucket and scoop.
A hallway at the LWSC, my office is the next door on the right.
Early morning scene, selling bananas
This guy, and his generator, single-handedly keeps the LWSC powered on a daily basis. When the diesel runs of for the day, the power goes out and people go home.
