Malo loves phones

Next to looking out the window and eating, it's possible that the thing that Malo loves best is to talk on the phone. Of course, he can't talk, but that's completely besides the point. He's got the form down, and he's just working on content next.
Of course, talking on the phone while looking out the window is super cool as well.
Once in a while, Malo grabs his sat phone to order an airstrike.
Dude! we need the jets to come in NOW!

More walking

From last week, but we like it.

Too cool for words

Malo went to the park with his babysitter. She loaned him her shades and sent us this photo.
Should I worry that the over-size shades make my son look like a third world despot?  Not to mention the fact that he's riding a dragon...
Who you callin' a despot?

What's your sign?

Gregoire (looking at Malo's birthday card from Dadah): I didn't realize that Malo was a Leo...
Michele: He's not a Leo, Leo's in the summer.
Gregoire: right... I wonder why she wrote that... he's a Pisces - the fish, I guess
Michele: do you know what your sign is?
Gregoire: of course, I'm a Virgo
Lucie: is my sign a Kangaroo?

Funny words

Lucie doesn't make many mistakes when she speaks in French or English, at least when it comes to vocabulary (grammar's another thing). But here are a couple of good ones:

- she'll say "saintécureuil" instead of "ceinture" (belt). This wouldn't be funny except that it sounds exactly like "holy squirrel"
- for some reason, she keeps calling the living room ("salon" in French) the "saleevaroom".
- for some time now, she's had a hard time saying "girl", which inevitably comes out as "glirl"

Rocking

More Malo Turns One

Thursday night, we continued to celebrate Malo's birthday with Lucie and Greg's parents. Malo got to blow out more birthday candles.

Why blow out the candle when you can put it out with your hand?
He also opened more birthday presents.

He got lots of nice gifts.
Wait. Does this noisy toy from Pop-pop and Grammy seriously not have an on/off switch? Awesome!

Malo Turns One

On March 1, we celebrated Malo's first birthday. Technically because this is a leap year, we could have celebrated it the day before, but we stuck to the date he was born on.

Seven of his anglophone baby friends from the neighborhood came over in the morning to help us celebrate and eat banana muffin cupcakes with cream cheese icing.
We have a group photo of the all the babies, but I don't know the moms well enough to post it here. Here is Malo with his good friend Sacha! (Sacha's mommy reads the blog.)
Malo opening his birthday present from Sacha. It was lots of boxes inside boxes to unwrap and finally KIWIS! and CHICKPEAS! Malo's favorites!! Malo says, whow!
Greg snuck home during his lunch to help Malo blow out his candle.
Malo eating his first cupcake.
Our little birthday boy looking a little stunned by all the attention.

Random pictures

Bath time is often playtime as well. This time, Malo ended up with a Shapey turtle shell as a hat. It fits him perfectly.

Giving a bottle to your little brother is very serious business indeed.

It's not exactly clear what Malo can see by looking out the window, what with the small balcony blocking his view, but that won't stop him from standing on his tip-toes. Ridiculously cool pants are courtesy of aunt Morgane.
