Lucie in New York

The whole family's in NYC to visit Lucie's aunt Morgane (and Greg's sister). On the way to New York, Lucie stopped by duty free at Charles de Gaulle airport.
All that a baby needs to be happy: a ball, a bottle (it goes hmmm....), a backpack, and not too much clothing (thank you overheated Columbia housing).

Lucie identifies a known figure on the wall (canard = duck)

Visiting friends in Antwerp

While Greg was in Malawi (see Greg's Soap Box on the sidebar), Lucie and Michele visited Vanessa and her daughter in Antwerp for two days. Lucie had a great time playing in her seat during the 2 and a half hour train ride.

Vanessa's daughter kindly shared all her toys with Lucie and the two had a great time together. We all went out for pizza for lunch.
Yummy pizza!

Rockin'

Lucie got her very own rocking chair for Christmas from her French grandparents.
She's pretty happy to have her own chair too.

It was snowing in Paris on Monday morning. This is actually pretty rare and so we took a photo of the snow from our living room window. This is looking at the rooftop of the fire company across the street from our apartment. The snow melted by noon, but it was very pretty while it lasted.

Back at Last

Lucie has started to talk. She says about ten words in both English and French. Her first words were in English, but she's been learning more and more French words lately. Here's a sampling of a few of her first words.

Ball...

Oua-Oua... The French word for the sound a dog makes.

Lucie loves when we blow bubbles for her in the bath. So of course she can demand more BUBBLES...

Cat... which Lucie actually doesn't say very much any more. She now usually says the French word, chat.

Other words that she says often are mama, dada, tata (auntie for the woman who watches Lucie during the day), book, duck, ca-ca (canard, the French word for duck and according to Greg its what his sister used to call ducks too),... She's almost got bateau (boat), chausson (slipper), and chaussure (shoes) too.
