Lucie watch, part x

Lucie's favorite activity is taking a bath. She floats and likes to kick a bit. That's when you're likeliest to get some semblance of a smile (and it's not gas, because there are no bubbles!).

Magali came to visit and test drive our baby before she has her own in mid-December.
Michele's former boss from Pittsburg and his wife (Ray and Marilyn) brought us dinner. We liked that, so we let Marilyn hold Lucie and pretend to feed her roast chicken. this is a hint, people - bring food=play with baby. Please also all notice that Michele's wine glass is empty and clean - she's the good mother sitting off picture on the left.

Another Party Trick

People are asking, so here it is: Lucie is eating a lot, sleeping a lot (most nights without waking), and her parents are exhausted trying to keep up and keep the apartment looking reasonably clean.

On another note, I (Greg) am proud to showcase my daughter's new party trick: the almost roll-over. Ok, so this is just an excuse to post more pictures, but at least you've to admit I am making an effort at narrative here. Without further ado, see below:

Getting ready to roll:
On her way:
Almost there...
wave that arm...well, didn't quite make it, but it was exhausting just the same... This is another Lucie favorite: the full-body yawn. Another favorite, the burrito wrap.
Two really cute pictures, for those who like babies that either sleep or stare quietly (not frequent):

More pictures of Lucie

This is an 'old' picture from the clinic. They just keep coming... this time is our friend Gwen.
And Greg's brother Bertrand.
Lucie likes to make faces when she sleeps.
Someone has correctly pointed out that there are almost no pictures of Michele in these last few posts, so here are a couple.

Everybody loves Lucie, but Lucie loves NY

She's too busy eating her hand to realize just how cool her outfit really is (this one courtesy of Gonchi and Vero - June visitors - we've got a few others)

Visitors and well-wishers keep comping (there's a regular glut of flowers) - in this case, Greg's running partner: Frantz.

Paternal grand-parents are all a-goo over the latest family addition.

Q-time with dad (who needs sleep and a shave).

Lucie watch, part 3...

Popular demand has been such that I am forced to put up more pictures. This, of course, has nothing to do with proud-fatheritis.

Lucie and her great-aunt Sabine.

Off to the market at 1 week old (this family likes to start early on this favorite activity).

9 days old, first day of real eye opening and looking around. Lucie seems to have two main party tricks: the one-eyed pirate thing, and an unsatiable need to suckle, be it fingers, knucles, breasts, whatever.

Greg's cousin Isabelle, mother of little 4 month old Fanny, also came to visit and lavish attention on the 8th marvel of the world.

Sleeping in her bassinet, a rare sight as she prefers to party with her parents at all hours of the day or night.

More Lucie

Lucie sleeps, gets visits and hugs, and goes home.

She also has the smallest toes.

It should be pretty clear that we're obsessed with our new toy.

Lucie!

After months of waiting and hesitating, and numerous debates about the name that she would have, we finally decided that it was time to get on with life and have the baby after all... Here is a picture taken a couple of hours after her birth on 3 October at 09:50.

Clearly, she's the best looking baby ever. She was born at 3.26kg and 50 cm, about 12 days early (as per a 41 week French pregnancy).

As the one with the easy job in the whole thing, I'd like to say that Michele was a real trooper, and that she showed great calm, courage, and strength. I am very proud of both of my girls. Here are a couple more pictures.

Any day now...

The baby is due in 16 days. The room is more or less ready. Here are a few photos for everyone who has been asking to see what the nursery looks like.

August in Brittany

We spent two weeks with Greg’s family in Brittany. Brodie has been happily living there with Greg’s grandmother all summer. The dog would barely acknowledge Greg and me, but I was able to convince her to walk on the beach a few times.
