Lucie's Easter Weekend

Lucie (and the whole family really, but all you guys care about is Lucie) went to Bretagne for the 3-day Easter holiday. She had lots of fun. Lucie really likes her grand père and gives him lots of hugs. She also usually shrieks when he approaches.

Lucie and her great-grand-mother.

Searching for Easter eggs in the garden. This was a multicultural Easter, with a basket's contents that came from the US (thanks to her FL grandparents), painted eggs (American and Russian tradition) and some chocolate hens, eggs, bells, and bunnies, as is the custom in France.
She quickly got the hang of picking things up in the garden.
It's tough being a LucieThe basket had been carefully hidden in plain sight.
Giving noise-making toys to children is not funny.
When not hunting for eggs, Lucie went on a bike ride with her father and grandfather on the Côte Sauvage.

It wasn't all Lucie all the time, and Bertrand and Armelle enjoyed a nice conversation.
Lucie also went to the beach, and was very sad not to be able to swim (the water is way too cold), so she made do with collecting rocks and shells.

She got measured by Armelle
And she tried to eat her dadadou's (grandmother) knitting needle.
No small children or animals were hurt in this stunt.

Some older pictures

Lucie likes to go over to her grandparent's and play with the stone balls from Madagascar.

A few months ago, she and Bubbles (that would be the bear) went over there to spend the night.

On another occasion, we all got together to eat some duck, and Lucie showed, much to her mother's horror, that she's a real carnivore.

More Lucie

The howling masses have howled, and we have listened. Without further ado, we bring you:

MORE LUCIE!

Lucie went to see her cousin Fanny last weekend. The slides in Montreuil are really big... but Lucie wasn't scared, which is to say that her parents were scared for her.

Those two are cute...
Lunch at Fanny's
Lucie is more and more a little girlOnce a while, it's good to remember that she's still a baby too.
Feeding the doll, which as one can see, has already lost an eye to malnutrition...
Going to a cafe with mom (or maman, as she's known in these parts)
Looking for dogs and waving at strangers from the cafe window on Saturday morning. Reading a book to her crocodile. I stuck it inside her shirt one morning and she loved it. She paraded around the apartment with it for a while.

Natural History Museum, Part 2

We were all about the Natural History Museum on this trip.

Lucie's Super Aunt

Lucie's Aunt Mo was a super great hostess! Not only did she let us stay with her in NYC for a week, but she even loaned Lucie her boots...

She chased Lucie in the park on the Lower East Side...
She pushed Lucie on the swings in Central Park...
And she helped Lucie nap in her stroller. Notice how Morgane's boots match Lucie's snowsuit! Yep, she really is a super cool Aunt.

More Lucie in NYC

Dancing in Morgane's apartment.
Having a coffee with Maman and Dada (as we're called these days) in Brooklyn.
Check Feb 24th 2008 for a similar photo... it's pretty amazing how much bigger she is these days (and how much more tired Dad looks).Taking the subway.

Meeting the Canadians

While in NYC, Lucie got to meet our wannabe Canadian friends. At first, Lucie wasn't so sure about sharing the water bottle with Xander.
In the end, Alana managed to convince her to share with the dog puppet, or as Lucie has it, the oua-oua (pronounced wha-wha).
Of course, we also got to hang out with them, which was great.

Snow bunny

It was Lucie's first major snowfall, and she, as is often the case, adapted without skipping a beat. She was quickly covered in snow, and didn't seem to mind at all.

Zoom in to see the look of glee on her face.

Her parents' stroller was woefully inadequate, and so we had to rely to a more traditional mode of transportation.

Lucie in NYC

Lucie's been having a grand time in NYC. Not only did it snow (stay tuned for a future post), but she's gotten to meet all sorts of people. She went to have pizza with Karen, who is a bit camera shy...

She really enjoyed the pizza, and in particular dipping the crust into the marinara sauce.

She also went to the Natural History Museum with Elizabeth and Michael, Greg's college friends.

She really enjoyed the dinosaurs and the stuffed animal dioramas.
Like a good little New Yorker, she went to Tom's Dinner for breakfast.
